Tools required:
| Tire Iron | 17mm wrench | 17, 31mm sockets | socket wrench |
| Torque wrench | pry bar | New cotter pins for axle nut | Transmission fluid |
| hammer or balljoint and tie rod fork | |||
1.
Loosen lugnuts
2. Remove axle nut cotter pin
3. Loosen and remove Axle Nut (31mm)
4. Jack up car and support with stands
5. Remove wheels
6. Loosen tie rod end nuts (17mm) and separate tie rod from hub assembly. You can use a tie rod fork or pound on the side of the hub assembly where the tie rod bolt passes through to loosen it then with the nut towards the top of the threads give it a good hard pound with a hammer and it should come loose. Remove the nut. If you use the fork be sure to use caution as the boot will rip if youre not careful requiring replacement. I prefer the hammer method as it seems to work consistenly without damage to the boot or tie rod end.
7. Remove balljoint nut (17mm) with open end wrench. Use the same procedure as the tierod ends to remove it, except to pop the balljoint out of the hub assembly use a pry bar between the balljoint bolt and the halfshaft assembly.
8. Remove the 2 17mm bolts and nuts from the strut to hub assembly. Pull apart and you should have enough play even with the brake caliper attached to the hub to slide the hub off of the halfshaft.
9. Hang the hub assembly from the strut using wire or string to prevent damage to the brake hose.
10. Drain the transmission fluid.
11. Use the pry bar to pop the halfshafts out of the transmission. It may be hard to pop out since theres a c-clip that holds the halfshaft in place. Keep trying, it will come free with enough force.
12. Done. Reassemble in opposite order torquing all bolts to spec.
