The Diet

To date, this is what has come out of the Laser.

1. Complete power steering system including all hoses, pump, reservoir and brackets
2. Complete engine bay A/C components including hoses, comprssor, brackets etx.
3. Plastic battery tray (big time weight savings)
4. Complete cruise control system (again no big weight loss, but way better access to key components)
5. Aux. A/C rad cooling fan
6. Exhaust Heat Shields
7. Brake Dust Shields
7. Spare Tire and Jack (Put it back in for long trips)
8. Converted from Automatic to Manual Transmission (major loss in weight here! That auto tranny weighs a ton)
9. Rear window Washer reservoir and sprayer
10. Trunk carpet, plywood covering spare tire, some panels (more to stop rattles then weight reduction)

As soon as I get a scale I'll weigh this stuff to see what I'm at. I figure I've shaved about 200 lbs off.
I'm going to stop by a weight station one day soon and see what this car weighs in at.
